On The Road Again (1)

Picked up the Winnebago and we set of north this time.

First stop Dongara, beautiful, right on the coast, miles and miles of nothingness.

WOW

Its me!

Like a nomadic traveller (Beer in hand)

End of Day 1

It was only a one night stop over as the idea was to get to Coral Bay, which is about 650 miles from Perth.
We left Dongara nice and early the next morning, next stop was, Denham.
The Aussies love there local art.

Its the resort location for a visit to Monkey Mia which is where you get interact with the dolphins. The visit the shore virtually everyday, sometimes 3 times.
Got to Denham later than anticipated as we took a left off the North west Coastal Highway, along what was termed a 'Tourist Drive'. It added 170km's to the drive, and absolutely nothing to see other than a pink lake!!!! Should have looked at the map, tosser!

Straight road or what?
Anyone seen a cloud yet?

Denham is probably the nicest place I have visited in Oz to date, absolutely stunning. Like a Mediterranean Aberdovey.
We arrived about 4pm, parked up right on the front, about 10 yards from the beach and within 5 minutes the kids were in the ocean on the kayak and swimming out to a pontoon about 50 yards off the shore.
Is that a shark behind you?

Sir Steve Redgrave!

Will you stop pointing that thing at me?

Ahhhhhhh
Not difficult to spot that we are novices eh?

Thirsty work that driving business, especially when you take a slight (170km) detour!
Do you mind?

End of Day 2

The next morning was another early start as we set off for Monkey Mia. I reckon Emu's don't sleep.

Monkey Mia is a very popular tourist resort located about 800 km north of Perth, Western Australia. The resort is 25 km northeast of the town of Denham in the Shark Bay Marine Park and World Heritage Site.
It was about a two and a half hour drive. we stopped at the local highway services for some refreshments.
I'll never complain about Granada services again.

The main attraction is the daily feeding of the bottle nose dolphins that have been coming close to shore for more than forty years. Rangers from the Department of Environment and Conservation carefully supervise the process.
The place is actually also a resort, with beach side villa's and a small caravan/trailer park.
What an experience.
At the end of each time the dolphins show up everyone is asked to leave the water and, they select people from the crowd to go into the water and feed each dolphin. So only a lucky five when we were there were asked. Niamh got selected the first time they showed up and Peter got selected the second time.
8am!!!

Here they come
Watch your fingers!

Cool eh?
Smile.

Its Ursula Andress
Just fed the fish.

You'd need one hell of a portion of chips with this fella.
5 in all

Spent the rest of the day lounging around the beach, lovely. Even tried our hand at a 4 person peddelo.

On the way back to Denham

we drove past Denham Golf Club. Now I've played Denham GC in the UK and it definitely ain't nothing like this!!!!!!

5th Tee in the distance.

5th fairway!!

5th green, or should I say sandy

You get a free drop from that. Two fima lengths!!

Good job they don't have to get the mowers on those tee's

No worries about fusarium or watering these babies.

Its for the greens!!

I'd say you gotta want to play golf pretty bad!!!!

End of day 3
Second instalment in a few days!
