Kakadu National Park

Two and a half hours south east is the biggest national park in Australia, Kakadu. Occupying an area of 190,000km2, the same size as The Netherlands.
We were picked up from the hotel at 6.15am and as seems usual, the first stop, two and a half hours later is the services!!

How many of these have you seen above the food counter in a Granada?

Or these in the car park at Watford Gap?

Or one of these at Hilton Park eh?

This guy only popped
in 15 years ago for a coffee!

Aboriginal Rock Art, not quite sure I get it. All have a story attached to them.

Its called graffiti anywhere else in the world!

Story is far too long!! But I can tell you it has nothing to do with his todger!!

Neither is this one. Have you noticed how little detail there is but they always draw the genitalia?

This is what we came for.

Your transport awaits

So many Sea Eagles at this place, it was incredible
Whistling Ducks. They don't quack, hate the water and don't swim, not sure why they are called ducks! Other than they look like ducks.
Bloody hell!!

Bloody bloody hell!!
We watched tis guy for about 15 mins, he never moved a muscle.
There are about 140,000 of these in The Northern Territory. They suggest you even check your swimming pool at home before getting in!!! Bloody hell.
 These are just fantastic
Stunning.

Got back to the hotel at 8.15pm!! 14hours on the coach, only 5 of it off it. It was well worth, if a bit scary, just to see the 'salties'or the 'Ginga's (its what the Aussies call the crocs) in their natural habitat.

Darwin - Northern Territory

We are in Darwin (at The Top End as the Aussies like to call it) in the Northern Territory.
Arrived here on Monday 23rd had a chill out day Tuesday and went to Litchfield National Park on Wednesday.

Chillin'

Hi!!

Wow!

'Just having a rest'

Look at that 6 pack! And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west!

"I'm chilling"

The bus picked us up at 7.05am (bit early for yours truly these days) and we set off south for the National Park along the Stuart Highway (the next tee junction on this highway is 1,200km's away), one and a half hours away. First stop, Banyan Tree Café, a services to you and me!
Banyan Tree Café

Not quite sure what this symbolises, but there were loads of them.

Posh service area eh?

Yours truly was gagging for a cup of tea, so went inside and saw all the necessary except cups. I asked the woman behind the counter (a German) where they were and she said 'you must look'!
What? I only want a cup of tea, I didn't think I would have to go on a treasure hunt for one. After a couple of minutes I gave up and said so. She put her hand under the counter and then produced a cup we she gleefully held above her head, "Here we are" Well the first thing I felt was a proper tit, then I wanted to smash the bloody thing over her head and recall the result of the most recent world wars! Anyway, seeing the joke ( I don't think) I laughed it off, just about.
Suitably refreshed we set of on the tour.

We saw lots of and very large termite hills, thousands in fact.

Anybody home? This a cathedral type, 50 years to get it to this size

Looked a bit like a graveyard

These are magnetic ones. The clever little blighters build them facing east (where the sun rises) so they warm up fast in the morning. At the hottest part of the day the sun is shining on the thinnest part of the hill which stops it over heating. Well, I thought it was clever.

Its the poop and spit of these little fellas

Went swimming in some billabongs

What a place to go swimming, just magical. They have not had rain here for 6 months, where the hell does the water come from?

Niamhy Noo Noo

That's Niamhy causing the splash doing her Silverkrin advert!

Magical

Scary
